Families of Faith at St. Andrews and Faith,

Our Christmas Eve service will feature several of the popular Christmas hymns from the church. They all bring with them stories of how the author came to write the hymn as well as the music itself. I believe that the hymns we sing every week can be very, very meaningful. It's up to us, the listeners, in how we listen to the music, how we interpret the hymnody for our daily lives. God speaks through music, I believe, in many and wonderful ways. Tune in Thursday evening at 7 p.m. for our Celebration service.

All of the hymns, and hymn writers especially, have a story. Each of us has a story. Each congregation has a story. And Christmas has a story. This week for your devotions read Luke chapter 2 and hear the Christmas story once again. Engage that story with your heart and mind, become one of the characters and get a feel for what it was like. Men? Think about Joseph, not a recorded word from him in Scripture, yet he was a man of strong moral courage and values. He stood by Mary at risk of their lives, he followed God's angelic leading. A true man of God. Women? Especially if you've given birth to children, think about Mary! Traveling miles in the cold, pregnant, and hungry. A woman of incredible strength, who answers the angel telling her what is going to happen by saying "Let it be, according to your word!"

This Christmas Eve (7 p.m. btw) tune in on email, both Facebook pages, or the St. Andrews website and listen with the ears of your heart.

God's peace be with you and my heartfelt wishes for a blessed Christmas and New Year!

Keep the faith, God is with us, and I'll "see" you Christmas Eve,
Pr. Doug
