A highlight of my vacation time was a day long visit to “The Shrine of Christ’s Passion” located in the NW part of the state near Crown Point in St. John, Indiana! This is a setting of the Stations of the Cross (detailed statues showing the Lord’s Supper (visit the website below) and the steps the Lord took to crucifixion along the pathway. They include the empty tomb, the Ascension, and even have a display of Moses with the Ten Commandments in separate location. It’s designed to look like he’s up on a mountain. Everyone of the displays has an electronic voice recording describing the scene. These take maybe 30 seconds and most of the displays have concrete benches to sit on as you go (there is a lot of walking, btw, bring your walking shoes.)
It is wonder-full experience and I highly recommend a visit and perhaps this summer/fall we can make a church trip. At the end of the trail you circle back to the entry area with a huge gift shop! There is no charge, they invite donations and there are several ways to do that on your visit.
They are on the web at http://www.shrineofchristspassion.org, 10630 Wicker Ave, St. John, IN 46373, toll free 855-277-7474.
I would also like to thank Lori Becker, Faith, and Pr. Rudy, St. Andrew’s for substituting for me this past Sunday!
Continue to also pray for our reopening plans and process. As you know from national news we aren’t “out of the woods” yet from the virus, but so close to the edge.
Grace and much Peace, See you Sunday,
Pastor Doug
