Greetings Siblings in Christ!

Is God male? This was a big debate in my Seminary classes back in the day. I am not writing this to enter into a debate, we have to imagine, and believe that God is not defined by our human terminology. God is beyond male/female/black/white/brown and on and on with the qualifiers. What I want to point to is to allow our hearts to be open on this Mother's Day week to see the "mothering" aspects of God:

  • The comfort in times of trouble
  • The peace that passes what we understand
  • The unconditional love and grace and acceptance

I personally will always remember the smell of my mother's perfume! When it passes by me in public I am transported back to my days when she was still alive.

I realize Mother's day carries a lot of emotion for many. Some of us didn't receive all that God had intended from our mom's, and we know that's not about us, but other issues. Bottom line today, friends, is to accept and feel the comforting, loving touch of our "mother" God who has all the qualities of love. A blessed and happy Mother's day week to all of our mom's. On Sunday we will hand out carnations for all the ladies. For those of you who are a mom, may God give healing strength and peace for you and your families.

God's peace be with you. Please reach out if I can serve in any way,
Pastor Doug
