Friends:
A blessed 4th of July week for you all! If you are a working person, it's a four-day work week coming off a three-day weekend, everyone's favorite! Around this time of year, on many signs we see "God Bless America!" (It was on our church signs!!)
I mentioned in my sermon last Sunday that I remember one time after 911 when signs everywhere had that message. I told about one time driving by a sign where the letter "D" had fallen off the sign! I think that is a wonderful way to launch us into this month of July: GO BLESS AMERICA
Go bless YOUR America, the places and spaces where you live and move and have your being. Share the Good News, invite someone to church, smile often to everyone you meet, and rejoice and be glad. For God didn't just love America, but "God so loved the world, that all those who believe in Jesus will not perish but have everlasting life!" John 3:16
TOP THREE THINGS TO KNOW FOR THIS FIRST WEEK OF JULY:
1) Everyone is invited to the celebration luncheon for Ed Bailey, 50 years at St. Andrews as Music Director, organist, etc. Join your family of faith at worship at 11, and then afterwards for a provided lunch. We can really celebrate this gift of Ed's ministry at both churches. Congratulations Ed, and Beverly, as they also celebrate 50 years of marriage.
2) Remember Adult Ed at St. A's at 10 and Sunday School for all ages continues thru the summer. Remember the Bible study this Wednesday night at 7, July 6th, then on a break until August 3rd. Faith Formation invites members of both churches who have never joined in to come and see what's happening! This is a fun, lighthearted look at our faith journey. We will begin shortly a new book: Imagine a New Economy: Biblical Reflections on Money and Possessions by John D. Herman. Pick up a copy for @ $13 on Amazon and jump in. You will be glad you stepped up into any of these opportunities to grow in our faith.
3) Mark your calendars for a Joint Worship Lay Led service on July 31, starting at 9:15 with refreshments, the service begins at 10 a.m.at Faith Lutheran. A special time together around the idea of being good stewards of our environment. Faith's property offers opportunities for discussion and learning for all ages.
Please reach out if there is any way I can serve you or yours,
