Friends:
It was a wonderful day of worship together this past Sunday! There were over 40 folks with us (someone counted) and several visitors! Our God is an awesome God, and I am so thankful for our family of faith as we gather for our "family meeting" every Sunday morning! I am especially grateful for visitors, one said she was new to the area and an ELCA member, another complimented us on how nice we are!
I love how things come together when we worship at St. Andrews. I entered the building hearing Ed and Mark (Hollman) practicing. I heard the adults laughing and talking in the library for Christian Education. Down the hall I heard Jennnifer Baker leading the Steurer kids in a teaching and joy surrounded me. John Charlesworth comes in and starts to do what he has done for 50 years as an usher! Amanda is booting up the software for Facebook live, Jamie Shake and Chris Willman set up and clean up as altar guild.
Thanks be to God!!
TOP 3 THINGS TO KNOW FOR THIS WEEK OF AUGUST 22ND:
1) Remember our worship service time changes Sunday September 4th as we "spring forward" to 9 a.m. worship, Christian Education will remain at 10 a.m. You are always welcomed at Faith, Avon if the other service time is preferred!
2) Clothes Closet this Saturday, 10-1, please drop by and help volunteer. Also, pass the word to everyone to refer people in need
3) Your Church Council gave up their Saturday morning in a time of retreat. Jim Patton led us in discussion over what you had to say at the Beginning Anew town hall meetings (ideas, thoughts, comments about the future of St. Andrew's). Your Council is here to serve the congregation and to listen to the Spirit in our midst! More information will be forthcoming!
Peace be with you,
Pastor Doug
