Friends:
Another week goes by, and we are into October already! I pray that in the ebb and flow of your life you are finding time away to renew your spirit. This week I am in Chicago attending the Academy of Spiritual Formation. There will be two faculty speaking on the spiritual life, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Around that we have silent time, fellowship, worship and time in small groups. This event is put on by the Upper Room via the Methodist church. (No worries, I am not 'converting').
I have attended these for several years in a row and love the program. The rhythm of life at this retreat quiets my soul and refreshes my spirit! I love to go and yearly find several ways to retreat/conference and get time away. These are the kinds of programs and events that give life to me. And I am thankful for time away not only for Continuing Education, but vacation and days off.
I pray you also find time....even just moments during the day, or time away that nourishes your soul as well. In the end, to God be the glory as God calls us away from the distractions of daily life. Often when we get away we finally have time and space to listen to God!
The same thing happens in a Via de Cristo weekend! There is a Men's weekend later this month and a Women's weekend in November. Visit http://www.inkyvdc.org for details.
God bless you,
Pastor Doug
