Friends:
American Author Donald Miller has a quote I love at this time of year: "All the trees are losing their leaves, and not one of them is worried!" Another quote I've heard before from a "God known" author is that autumn is a great season to remember the joy in letting go. Perhaps putting the two thoughts together reminds us that letting go (of the person, place or thing) of our worries is very freeing. Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6: 24: "Do not worry about tomorrow, look how God takes care of all of nature, how much more will God take care of you!" (paraphrase).
Another quote comes from Mark Twain: "I've known a great many worries; many never came true!" During this beautiful season of autumn, give God your worries. You and I really have no control. Use this as a season to do some letting go, of dying to the old, and rising to something new. God does this really well...and is always ready and willing to hear and listen to our hearts.
Prayer was the theme of Sunday's message. God is persistent in seeking us out and longing to be in communication and relationship with each of us. Let God have all your worries, and then feel that peace that passes understanding.
