Friends:
The cold of winter has quickly surrounded us on all sides. We are digging out winter coats, hats, gloves and if you are young at heart (or have young ones in your family) you went sledding last weekend! I struggle with our weather because there is usually no transition between the seasons.
I am fine with winter weather, it is time. However, I would prefer a few days of 50's and 60's and not just a "slam" from 70 degrees last Thursday, to Saturday's winter weather. It doesn't matter what you or I think, the weather seems to do what it wants. Who knows, we may still have some warm weather forth coming! Either way, does this cold snap make you feel weak? Does the weather, the darker evenings, the approaching Holiday season cause you to feel overwhelmed? Let's remember to draw our strength for daily living from God and God's Word. From Colossians 1: 11 (our New Testament reading this Sunday) "May you be made strong with all the strength that comes from his glorious power, so that you may have the endurance and patience, joyfully giving to the Father, who has enabled us to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light!"
TOP THREE THINGS TO KNOW FOR THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 14:
1) Speedway Community Thanksgiving service at our church, this Sunday evening, November 20th, 7 p.m. Please come and fellowship and worship with fellow believers from our community.
2) Faith Lutheran Food Pantry, Saturday 9-11, volunteers welcomed and needed!
3) Looking ahead: Christmas Eve services at 7 p.m., Christmas Day, 10 a.m. Joint service, and New Year's Day, January 1, 2023, 11 a.m. (new worship times)
Thank you, call/text/email me if there is any way I can help or serve, Pastor Doug
God be with you until we meet again!
