Friends:   I don't suppose it matters, really, what the future holds for our congregation. To me, what matters is that many of us are coming together this week to support the Jeanine Smith family. There will be a meal at church on Thursday for some 50 people in the family coming from all over the country. Jeanine and Kenny were very active in the Indianapolis 500 (they live, literally, right next door) and President of the Speedway, Doug Boles is expected to attend the viewing Thursday.

We come together to take care of our families of faith. This is the term I've used since I began here: Family of Faith! Our personal families are spread out and not nearby as years ago. We need each other and we need each other all the more during crisis as with the Smith family this week. This is what God would have us do, be there for our community and the wider community around us.

On a lighter note, our family will host another family of faith stopping in from a mission trip to stay with us for two nights. They are from Immanuel Lutheran in Wisconsin, and will join us Sunday morning for church. We are blessed to have them.    So, friends, we have much to do in the care and love of our family of faith and inviting others to join us. This is our calling!

TOP THREE THINGS TO KNOW FOR THE WEEK OF JUNE 13:   1)   Youth group staying Friday late evening and Saturday night. Please drop off to my office any snacks, soft drinks, donuts or things you can donate for them. Thirteen youth, 6 adults!   2)   Blessed Father's Day to all the dads!! I have some beautiful ink pens with Bible verses to hand out to the men of the congregation. Love your kids, Dad, it's never too late to say I am sorry or to seek out the kids and tell them you love them!   3) Pray, pray, pray for Bobbie Moore surgery Thursday, Dale Willman treatment continuing, Suzanne DeBoer recovering at home from her hip surgery, the Jeanine Smith family.

God be with you until we meet again!
