Friends:
As you read this, I am on retreat. Prior to the Office Hours being established, I had registered for a four day spiritual retreat. I need these times away to renew my own spirit. And, it comes at just the right time as you all know. To retreat means to "withdraw" from the world. To take intentional time away to grow in our spirituality.
You do not have to sign up for a program somewhere, you can retreat anywhere, anytime. Just deeply breathe and meditate, or read your Bible or devotional booklets. Take time somewhere this week and join me in retreat. Pull away, right there at your home, and feel the presence of the Lord and the knowledge you are doing the right thing for yourself.
Jesus modeled this for us. Six times in the Bible, Jesus took intentional time to be away from people and to pray. If the Lord does it, it is our calling as well. Jesus waits for us, to withdraw from the world and pray, read, listen, and breathe. Amen!
TOP THREE THINGS TO KNOW FOR THIS LAST WEEK OF AUGUST:
1) Worship time changes this Sunday, September 3rd! We move to the 11 a.m. time slot for worship, and Adult Bible study (for all ages!) is at 10 a.m.
2) Wheeler Elementary could use our support with: Kleenex/tissues, disinfectant wipes, and pre-packaged snacks for the classrooms. Just pick those up and drop in the lobby/narthex and we will get them over to the school Thank you in advance or our continued support of Wheeler. Pray for them as well!
3) Dale Willman Celebration of Eternal Life will be Saturday, September 2 at 11 a.m. at church followed by a luncheon. The visitation is Friday, September 1, 5-7 p.m., at Flanner Buchanan, Speedway. We thank God for the life and witness of Dale and pray for Chris and the family.

God be with you until we meet again!
