Friends:
On this Holiday week, I leave you with two thoughts! One is to read for yourself the Bible story of "Thanks-Living" in Luke 17:11-19. It's a story about 10 lepers who are healed of their skin disease because they called out to Jesus in faith. But, only one returned to give thanks to the Lord. Be that one leper, both of us! Let us be the one who gives thanks all the time to everyone! It's kindness when you say "Thank you" to people who serve us in restaurant and stores. Let us live that out in daily life like our leper in the story in Luke! HAPPY THANKS-LIVING!
Secondly, right on the heels of Thanks-Living Holiday, we move into Advent starting Sunday. Thanks to Dee Dee Kochersberger for her work on the devotionals that will be available Sunday. Advent runs counter cultural to the season of Christmas because the world is in a hurry! Rush here and there, shop, travel, and shop again. Advent, in the Latin, means "Waiting" and Christmas isn't here until December 25th. So we wait on Jesus, with Jesus.
TOP THREE THINGS TO KNOW FOR THIS HOLIDAY WEEK OF NOVEMBER 20TH:
1) Pastor will offer a short Bible Study and play some games and trivia December 24th,at 10 a.m. on Zoom! The link will go out closer to that date. This will be an informal discussion of the Christmas story in Luke 2: 1-20  for an hour, and everyone is welcomed to attend.
2) Remember there is no service Sunday morning the 24th, but Christmas Eve services at 9 p.m. (or 7 p.m. at Faith if the earlier time is helpful).
3) We are still collecting gloves, mittens and games/puzzles for the children in need at Wheeler Elementary! Please pick up some while you are out this week to help make Christmas a blessing for folks who need some help.
God be with you until we meet again!
