Happy New Year St. Andrews!
We finished the year of 2023 saying good-bye to Ed and Bev Bailey on the conclusion of Ed's 51 years of music ministry at St. Andrew's. We are grateful to God for Ed and his ministry among us, as well as Beverly and the countless ways she served the Lord. Just as with a new year, we say good-bye to the former things, we now say hello to the new things.
God is always about to do a "new thing" (Isaiah 43) and I pray we are open to received and enjoy. This Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024 we will welcome Bella Meier as our new musician. She will play alongside Mark and they have practiced and already been working together. Bella was referred to us from Annika Cahill, Faith's keyboardist, as they are fellow students at Butler. Bella's picture and personal information are in your January newsletter.
As we move forward, I pray you will continue to be present in church, give as God has given you, and participate in the Bible studies on Wednesday or Sunday evenings at 7 p.m. on Zoom. I hope one of your new year resolutions or goals is to grow in God's Word and prayer. You can do this by simply logging on Wednesday night as we study the Bible lessons for the coming Sunday. Then on Sunday evening, 7 p.m., join us in Faith Formation. This week we will conclude a review of the Advent devotional, and then on the 14th begin a study of the Psalms.
May God richly bless you this new year and all of us at St. Andrew's! To God be the glory in Christ Jesus our Lord!
TOP THREE THINGS TO KNOW FOR THIS BEGINNING OF THE NEW YEAR OF 2024:
1) Time change for worship begins this Sunday with church starting at 9 a.m. Then everyone is invited to join in the Adult Bible Study in the Fellowship Hall after services.
2) If you are a Council member of Committee/Team leader you are to complete your Annual Report and send to MJ as soon as possible in preparation for our ANNUAL MEETING, Jan. 28th, after service.
3) Please sign up on the sheets on the table in lobby/narthex if you can lector, serve Holy Communion, or help out with the next Clothes Closet, Saturday, January 13th, 10-12. Volunteers always welcomed.
God be with you until we meet again!
Peace, Pr. Doug
