Friends:

Think for a minute: how many friends do you have in your life right now? Many of us can think of good friends probably more from the past than today. In the Midweek Moment today I offer thoughts on friends and friendships. As we lay to rest a member from each of our churches this next week or so, there is the mass turnout of friends and even extended family from our past that come to pay respects.

The Bible offers many verses on friendships you can look up on your own. I love one in Proverbs that says "A friend does good like medicine!" We need others in our lives who can listen to us, journey with us in life, pray for us, and to be there in times of need. And we are also called to be the friend to others. To listen without fixing, to call/pray/email or text and keep communication going.

Then the bottom line, no matter where we are in friendship, What a Friend we have in Jesus! Hymn number 742: "What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!" Amen and Amen.
