Friends:
We have entered into that season of Epiphany, highlighting the early ministries of Jesus! We are witnessing the early calling of the first disciples. How did Jesus call upon your heart that first time?? He simply said to the first disciples: "Follow me" or something similar. Think about that a minute. What was his face like? I'll bet the eyes of Jesus showed light and love and and his whole countenance just drew you into his heart.
That's how Jesus works, calling us, drawing us to His heart! In the Bible, the heart describes the whole person. However Jesus first called you is beautiful and it's your story. God calls us all, our hearts to God's heart, to feel that love for ourselves. To forgive ourselves and others, and share that love of God with everyone we meet. How do you know you are called? Check your heart, not your head! Remember there are 18 long inches between our heads and our hearts. God touches our hearts to follow this path, or to ignite our passion for ministry in whatever area.
We just cannot keep it to ourselves, our God is so good, we must share with others and we must say "Come and see!"
TOP THREE THINGS TO KNOW FOR THIS WEEK OF JANUARY 17:
1) We had a successful Clothes Closet on a frigid Saturday! Thank you to Rose Jones, Norma Sweeney, and Karen/Henry Havlik for coming and helping. We need winter gear! Hats, gloves, socks, scarves along with sweatshirts and sweaters and coats. All sizes of these items welcomed and appreciated along with children's winter clothing as well. Feel free to come by during MJ's office hours Tue-Thurs (roughly) 10-4.
2) Congregational Meeting after service on January 28th! All members encouraged to attend to vote on our budget, Council and a question about our future! Should we stay at our building or sell and relocate somewhere? If you have any questions please reach out to a Council member or Pastor Doug.
3) Thank you to Happy Hill for coming over Saturday to take down the Nativity scene! To John Charlesworth for cleaning the sidewalks before church Sunday. Thanks to Jennifer Baker for bringing donuts and helping lead the service Sunday. It takes a village and God has blessed us together at St. A!
God be with you until we meet again!
