We continue on into the Pentecost season and the teaching of Jesus in the Gospel today asks an important question. He first asks the disciples who people say He is. Then, Jesus narrows in (and for you and me) to ask “Who do YOU say that I am!”

Well, how would you answer? Is Jesus your God, your friend, your Savior, or someone off in the distance kind of unknown? I will address that today asking us to reflect on our relationship with Jesus as a key component of our lives.

It’s easy to put Jesus off to the side or on the “shelf” to be pulled out and put on Sunday morning. But Jesus wants more, He wants our hearts turned to him in relationship and thanksgiving for the Easter Good News. He is risen, having defeated death, and longs to be with you and with me. It reminds me of the Footprints theme.

We say, in the Lutheran ELCA, that Jesus is our Savior, the One sent by God to die for sins and live forever with us into eternal life. All God’s people say…..Amen!
